For the second year, Garrard County School System has been approved to implement Non-Traditional Instructional Days (designated as Golden Lion Days). These will be used on selected snow days during the 2016-17 school year. By using these days, students will be connected to learning during inclement weather when school is cancelled. Not every snow day will be used in this way, but when a day is designated as a Golden Lion Day, you will be notified by phone and through local television stations.
Students will receive packets of school assignments designed by their teachers and geared to their educational needs. These packets will be sent home in a red folder on or before December 16, 2016. When you receive a call that a snow day is being designated as a Golden Lion Day, please have your child complete the work for that day and return the work to school when classes resume.
Teachers will be available by phone and online to assist students from 8-11 a.m. and again from 12-3 p.m. on these days. Upon return to school, teachers will review the work and give appropriate feedback to parents and students.
We are excited to be able to offer this program to benefit our students. We appreciate your support in once again implementing Golden Lion Days to keep students connected with learning on snow days.
