GARRARD COUNTY, Ky. (Mar 19, 2026) – Thomas More University and Garrard County Schools announce a partnership to expand access to higher education and create new academic pathways for students in central Kentucky in the first of a series of investments Thomas More will be making in the bluegrass region of the commonwealth.
This partnership will build upon three pillars:
Expand dual-credit offerings. Starting in 2026-27, Garrard County High School students will have greater access to college-level courses through the Thomas More Dual Credit program. This will include credentialing eligible Garrard County teachers to teach courses on behalf of Thomas More University and giving students access to online course options. All eligible students participating in Thomas More’s Dual Credit program will receive direct admission to Thomas More University once they reach their senior year. This partnership represents Thomas More University’s first comprehensive secondary school partnership in the central Kentucky region.
Create pathways for undergraduate, graduate, and certificate programs. Thomas More and Garrard County Schools will collaborate on future workforce development initiatives and adult learning opportunities as determined by the needs of the region.
Creating a shared use of space within Garrard County Schools. In support of the first and second pillars, Thomas More University will establish designated classroom and meeting space within Garrard County High School.
“This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to preparing students for success in college and in life,” said Joseph L. Chillo, LP.D., President of Thomas More University. “By working together, we can provide Garrard County students with the tools and opportunities they need to thrive and be more.”
“This partnership opens doors for our students in ways that will have a lasting impact,” said Dr. Kevin Stull, Superintendent of Garrard County Schools. “By expanding access to college coursework and bringing university resources directly to our campus, we are giving our students a head start on their futures while keeping opportunity close to home.”
The collaboration is designed to reduce barriers to college access, lower overall tuition costs for families, and create a seamless pathway from high school to higher education.
