The Garrard County Schools Board of Education has selected Dr. Kalem Grasham as the district’s next Superintendent following the retirement announcement of Dr. Kevin Stull. The Board officially approved Dr. Grasham during its meeting on Monday, May 11, and he will begin serving in the role on July 1.

Dr. Grasham currently serves as the district’s Director of Federal Programs, where he has worked alongside district leadership to support student achievement, instructional initiatives, and school improvement efforts across Garrard County Schools. Having already served the district in several leadership roles, Dr. Grasham brings a strong understanding of the district’s mission, schools, staff, and community into his new position.

With more than 27 years of experience in education, Dr. Grasham has served Garrard County Schools in a variety of roles, including Director of Federal Programs, Principal of Garrard County High School, Assistant Principal of Garrard County High School, Health and Physical Education Teacher, and Special Education Teacher.

Dr. Grasham earned his Doctorate in Education and Education Specialist degree from the University of the Cumberlands, a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from Eastern Kentucky University, and a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education with a minor in Health Education from Eastern Kentucky University. Throughout his career, he has developed extensive experience in instructional leadership, school improvement, student supports, and systems development.

As Superintendent, Dr. Grasham will lead with a focus on strengthening instructional systems, strengthening communication and collaboration across the district, and ensuring a shared commitment to high expectations for student learning and success.

In speaking about the opportunity to serve as Superintendent, Dr. Grasham expressed gratitude for the district and excitement about continuing to support Garrard County students, staff, and families.

Dr. Grasham’s early priorities include supporting strong leadership structures, enhancing instructional coaching and professional learning, expanding student support systems, and creating additional opportunities for students through continued community partnerships and program growth.

The announcement comes as Dr. Kevin Stull prepares to retire after serving as Superintendent since 2020. During Dr. Stull’s leadership, Garrard County Schools experienced significant academic growth, expanded opportunities for students, and impactful facility developments, including the construction of new athletic facilities at Garrard County High School. His tenure also strengthened collaboration across the district, helping build a more unified school system focused on student success and continuous improvement.
